I'm excited about Stakes Winner

Which is oddly in collection 1 but its art is on collection 2's cover (same with several other games, who designed this?)

Why are people buying physical releases of rom collections - there's so many other ways to play these, or not

One Switch cartridge can contain All NEO-GEO games.
Release that with book + snap case
and it's done, you have a real collector

Honestly I'm surprised it's not one game per cart.

$40+ each?
That's kinda steep IMO.
These should be $20-25 at most.

Love to know what they were huffing when they decided which games to include...

The fact they left out Fight Fever and Legend of Success Joe... someone needs their ass kicking.

Definitely should've included everything in one release. The ps2 era collection had 16 games and was a budget release. Hopefully they include some flyers, design docs, or other history beyond a bunch of roms. The Atari 50 collection really raised the bar on what a $50 rom compilation should be...

I guess the goal is to put like 2-3 worthwhile games in each 'collection' so that if they sell well enough they can release 6 or 8 collections instead of just being done in one or two with a dozen of the greats on each. Vol. 1 is particularly egregious. It's basically Garou and maybe Slug X. The rest are poor examples of their genres except maybe Shock Troopers but two collections and a Shock Troopers game on each? Dafug.

Eh, what's the point? You can already get most if not all of them individually from the eShop for $4 a pop. Why would I shell out $40 for a physical release when I'd mostly only play NTM? Some really shit choices in both volumes. smdh

Switch carts and PCB's aren't too cheap especially when Nintendo gets a cut out of it. Hence that price possibly.

this gives me Neo Geo X vibes in terms of packages of games.

I like the idea, but they're milking the volume releases. I'll stick with getting the games I want digitally when theyre on sale, as i already have plenty of ways to play these games. For those who dont have previous versions or MVS or AES systems then this is likely more appealing,

All of them are swapped. I'm assuming the game list is assigned to the wrong Vol. title.

High quality work as always from an SNK rom compilation.

Edit: Unless it was OP that swapped the game lists, I finally bothered to click through to the Japanese Amazon listing and they're correct on those pages, unless they were changed since originally posted.

Thanks lithy Physical ACA NEOGEO Collections announced (28)Yep, they were swapped in the english source, but are now corrected.

As mentioned by lithy, here is the original japanese announcement itself:

Glad these exist - the ACA titles across the board are great ways to revisit arcade classics for those without access to "rom machines." While I have no need for the Neo releases, I have a few on my PS5 like Qix, the Gradius games, etc.

That said, some of the inclusions here are a bit...questionable? Like, Fatal Fury 2 over Special? Metal Slug 4 over 3? Still, overall decent packages. Not for me or most of us here, but good for those that don't have other means to access these games.

Personally, I can't wait for vol.3 which will have a feature whereby your Switch will mock you for being such a fucking idiot for buying this game, every time you boot it up.

Also, will be available in a special toilet motif box set that also has comes with a limited edition SNK branded noose in Terry's red & white cap colors.

Vol 3:

  • Joy Joy Kid
  • Fire Suplex
  • Mahjong Kyoretsuden
  • Raguy
  • Ninja Combat
  • Super Sidekicks 4: The Ultimate 11
  • SVC: Chaos
  • Thrash Rally
  • World Heroes
  • Quiz King of Fighters

ACA NeoGeo games released around 2016-2020, so I suppose it's about time to look for more money. I picked up a few of them and enjoyed them, no complaints. I suppose I could nitpick that sprite flicker was removed from Blazing Star but I don't think many would complain about that.

However it's worth noting that ACA doesn't include online play. I suspect that if online were getting added, they'd be stressing it. If that affects anyone's decision.

I could see that, but let's suppose they don't include online play and these collections are just the same as what's available individually on the eShop...

What would ACA stand to gain by releasing 10 of their $4 ports physically for $40? It just doesn't seem like good business. These games aren't new, sure there are a few people new to them, but given that half of the NG library was released 30 or more years ago it seems like the potential market would already know which games they like or don't like and are worth buying (or could judge that themselves via emulation), and likely have bought the individual titles they'd want via the eShop. $4 to pick and choose 10 titles from the eShop sans manufacturing/distribution is a better deal for all involved than these 10 at $40 physical releases.

If these collections were retailing at $20 for 10 ports ($2 a pop) instead of $40 ($4 per, the eShop price) I could see where they're coming from. I might actually buy at least one (I already have the ACA Turfies from the eShop, and that's all I want on Switch).

My point is if they were smart they'd incentivize consumers with more than 10 games in a collection or a lower MSRP. As it stands now, what is the point of releasing physical collections at the same price as digital where a customer can't choose which 10 games they want? Only HMG likes Riding Hero, and he might legitimately have a developmental disability.

There’s actually ACA2 Neogeo coming out with online play. The only game announced so far is KOF98 for PS5 and XBSX
