*All ACA games have a tendancy to not unlock random achievements. If this happens, just hard reset your Xbox and attempt again and it should unlock

Introduction:
Over Top was a top down racing game released on NEOGEO back in 1996 by SNK, and has been ported directly to the Xbox One by our new best friends over at the bizarrely named Hamster Corporation. As with most of the other games so far released in the ACA series, this is a pretty fast completion, requiring little skill to finish. You only need to play each game mode once, but depending on luck and how fast you get used to the controls and where the shortcuts are, may take few more tries.

Step 1 - Original Mode
Start up in original mode, and change the difficulty to 1 to give yourself more time to hit checkpoints. Pick any vehicle you want, but the Falcon is probably the most balanced so comes recommended. Pick up all the checkpoint related achievements on the way and then reach the final checkpoint to register a score. 5 achievements for 420.

Step 2 - Hi-Score Mode
Rinse and repeat what you did in step 1, this time in Hi-Score mode. Things will be a little tougher as you can't change the difficulty, so will need to make sure you hit as many shortcuts (see guide) along the way to finish. You will need to finish the whole course and reach the finish line to upload your score for the related achievement. 4 achievements for 340.

Step 3 - Caravan Mode
Rinse and repeat what you did in step 2, this time in Caravan mode. As well as not being able to change the difficulty, you have only 5 minutes to get the high scores. However, this should be plenty of time in this game, as you only need to reach checkpoint 6. Once you have the checkpoint related achievements, you can simply quit out. 3 achievements for 240

Conclusion:
This racing title shouldn't give you too much trouble, as the game is pretty forgiving. As long as you hit most of the shortcuts, it doesn't matter if your general driving isn't too smooth. If you don't mind the price point for not much bang for your buck, and appreciate an easy 1000, then this game comes highly recommended!

HI SCORE Player

The score has been posted to the online rankings in the "HI SCORE MODE".
To register a high score in this game mode, you need to finish the whole course, which is six checkpoints, followed by the chequered flag. For Hi-Score mode, you will need to utilise all of the shortcuts in order to finish. You should be able to get to checkpoint 6 fairly easily, but the final checkpoint is tougher as it is a longer distance. Choose any vehicle you like, but the Falcon is recommended as it seems the most balanced. The useful shortcuts are as followed:
Up to Checkpoint 1: No known shortcuts
Up to Checkpoint 2: You can cut the corners on the light green section
Up to Checkpoint 3: None (there is an alternative route through the water, but water will slow most vehicles down.
Up to Checkpoint 4: As soon as you leave the large brown section and move on to the horizontal track, there is a hidden path to the north, blocked off by two barrels.
As soon as you leave this path, you will head up to a snow section. After the apex of the left handed hairpin bend, go up through the cones for another shortcut.
Up to Checkpoint 5: There is a left handed turn heading into the desert section, instead of turning left, carry on the road and there will be a left a bit further up leading to this shortcut
Up to Checkpoint 6: After the beach section at the beginning, you will go around a right hand turn into an S-bend. Rather than straightening out, carry on through the cones for this shortcut
Up to the Finish: About 30 seconds in to the stage, you will have been through a lot of walled in track, but will come to a place after an S-bend where you are turning right into a brown area. Instead of turning right, carry on straight up for this shortcut.
